Inside Cap Karoso & Nihi Sumba through the AANOUKIS lens

Some destinations inspire a collection.
Others become part of its story.

During the creation of SUMBA RÊVERIES, two extraordinary places left a lasting impression on the world of AANOUKIS: Cap Karoso and Nihi Sumba.

More than hotels, they represent a new vision of luxury travel — one rooted in nature, emotion, design, and meaningful experiences.

A philosophy that deeply resonates with the essence of AANOUKIS.

CAP KAROSO — CONTEMPORARY ISLAND ELEGANCE

When I arrived at Cap Karoso, what touched me immediately, was not only the beauty of the place. It was the atmosphere. A softness.

A Calm elegance. A feeling of luxury without excess. The kind that makes you instantly slow down.

Natural woods.
Refined architecture.
Earthy textures.
Open spaces connected to nature.
Warm light entering the villas throughout the day.
Beautiful handmade details.

Everything felt intentional.

Set between untouched nature and refined architecture, Cap Karoso embodies a new generation of luxury.

Minimal yet warm, sophisticated yet deeply connected to its surroundings, the atmosphere of the hotel immediately inspired me…

As a creative director, those environments inspire me deeply because they influence emotions, moods, silhouettes, and even the way I imagine women moving in AANOUKIS pieces.

Some collections are imagined.
Others are felt deeply before they are even created.

There is an effortless elegance at Cap Karoso that feels incredibly aligned with the AANOUKIS woman: refined, free, artistic, and naturally confident.

It is more for me what I would define as emotional luxury…

A luxury that allows you to breathe, slow down, reconnect, observe.

A balance between refinement and simplicity.

I remember sitting near the pool reading about Sumba, learning more about its culture and traditions, while imagining new silhouettes, fabrics, and textures for future collections.

I visited the organic gardens.

I spent time around the horses.

I observed how nature and design coexist so harmoniously there.

Those experiences nourished my creativity in a very organic way.

Because for me, fashion is never only about clothing.

It is about emotion, memories, atmosphere, and the places that shape our inner world.

And Cap Karoso inspired exactly the kind of elegance I want AANOUKIS to embody: refined, natural, sensual, and deeply connected to emotion rather than performance.

It reminded me that true luxury today is not about showing off.

It is about feeling.

Feeling peaceful.
Feeling inspired.
Feeling connected to yourself.

INSIDE NIHI SUMBA THROUGH THE AANOUKIS LENS

NIHI SUMBA — WILD BEAUTY & FREEDOM

If Cap Karoso represents contemporary elegance, Nihi Sumba expresses something more raw and untamed.

A place where luxury meets nature in its purest form.

From dramatic coastlines to horses running on the beach at sunset, Nihi offers a feeling that is almost impossible to describe freedom, silence, power, and emotion all at once.

Some places impress you visually.
Others change something inside you.

NIHI Sumba was one of those places for me.

Not because it felt perfect.
Not because it tried to impress.

But because it made me feel deeply connected to something essential again.

The ocean.
The silence.
The rain.
The wind.
Nature in its rawest form.

During my stay in Sumba while creating SUMBA RÊVERIES, NIHI became less of a hotel and more of an emotional experience.

A place where I slowly stopped overthinking and simply started feeling again.

THE BEAUTY OF RAWNESS

What I loved most about Sumba is that it still feels imperfect, raw, and deeply alive.

And NIHI preserves that feeling beautifully.

You do not feel disconnected from the island there.

You feel immersed in it.

The architecture breathes with nature.

The landscapes remain untouched.

The atmosphere feels emotional rather than artificial.

As a creative person, those environments nourish me deeply because they remind me that inspiration does not always come from noise, speed, or constant stimulation.

Sometimes inspiration comes from silence.

THE EMOTIONAL SIDE OF LUXURY

What touched me most at NIHI was not luxury in the traditional sense.

It was the feeling of space.

Space to breathe.
Space to think.
Space to reconnect with yourself.

Nothing felt forced.

Nothing felt performative.

The beauty came from nature itself.

The sound of the ocean at night.

The humid air after tropical rain.

The softness of morning light entering the room.

The sensation of being surrounded by something bigger than yourself.

To me, that is probably the most meaningful luxury today.

Not excess.

But presence.

A MEMORY MORE THAN A DESTINATION

When I think about NIHI today, I do not only remember a hotel.

I remember a feeling.

A feeling of calm.
Of emotional clarity.
Of reconnection.

And I think that energy naturally became part of SUMBA RÊVERIES itself.

Because some collections are created through ideas.

Others are created through emotions first.

This wild beauty perfectly echoed the spirit behind SUMBA RÊVERIES.

The flowing silhouettes of the collection, the earthy tones, the movement of fabrics under the wind, all naturally blended with the landscapes surrounding Nihi.

There is also a deeply spiritual energy in Sumba that can be felt strongly there.

A connection to nature that reminds us to slow down and appreciate simplicity.

For AANOUKIS, these moments are part of the creative process.

Because inspiration does not only come from fashion itself.

It comes from places, encounters, emotions, and the way a destination makes you feel.

TRAVEL AS PART OF THE AANOUKIS WORLD

At AANOUKIS, travel has always been more than an escape.

It is part of our identity.

Designed in Bali and inspired by destinations around the world, our collections are imagined for women who seek beauty, freedom, and meaningful experiences.

SUMBA RÊVERIES was born from this philosophy:

Creating pieces that carry the soul of a place and transform memories into wearable elegance.

A world of solar femininity, refined simplicity, and timeless escape…

Through Cap Karoso and Nihi Sumba, we discovered not only breathtaking locations, but a deeper inspiration behind this new chapter of AANOUKIS.

Forever grateful for all the magic and experiences during this special collection.
